Interesting Fatures of the Benrus Military watch

Recently I have bought a very interesting Military watch from the E bay.It is a Type II-Class A military watch.Made by an American watch maker namely Benrus Watch company. Photobucket The watch was made in the Decemebr 1976 as it has been stated on the case back Photobucket This watch has a very high dome plexi Glass Photobucket It has also a very dome big belly type case back too. Photobucket Both Lugs have a heavy Duty fixed bar.Bar had been put onto the lugs from the crown side of case, molded bead blasted the whole case and crown. we can see sign of the fixed bars holes on the crown position side. Photobucket Photobucket This watch back is complelty sealed off and closed. Thus watch making or assembling must be done from the front side. Photobucket It has a screw down crwon with a little dimple mark near the centre of crown. All gen and original crown have this mark. Photobucket I am deeply amazed to find out the the watch movt has a 2 pieces "splitting" Winding stem on it.This feature is essential in order to assemble or un assemble the watch movt from the front side of case. Photobucket The watch has an unidirectional bezel and it could be easily removed from the case body. Photobucket A further breakdown of the bezel reveals that there is a plastic insert fitted onto the hollow shaft of the metal bezel. Photobucket The plastic Insert had been made with reversed engrave on the bottom. Then some luminous pigment been applied on the Triangle part whereas the other nos and bars been filled with grey ink.Lastly the bottom part was painted with matt black ink and glue back on the metal bezel. That feature makes the bars and nos on the watch bezel looking very 3D . Photobucket Photobucket There is a metal ring helps to lock and secure the plexi glass onto the case body Photobucket Photobucket The watch has an anti metallic movement holder Photobucket Photobucket The watch is powered by a ETA 17J 2812-1 automatic movt. This is a discontinued Auto movt.Bridges and Rotor been beautifully polished . Photobucket This watch is a very well designed watch,100% Water resist tested and the owner can use it under severe weather conditions. However, I noticed that these watches are getting very difficult to service and get them repaired.Especially the Benrus watch company been shut down. There are some third party Plexi glass and crown made for these watches but they are not 100% perfect match and buyer need a lot of mod work on them. Other parts such as bezel, hands, winding stems could be sourced only from other existed broken watches.
